The Polls for General Election 2024 will open from 7am until 10pm on 4 July.

The results of the election will be revealed live on the BBC, ITV, Sky News, Channel 4, GB News, Talk and CNN International.

At 10pm the broadcasters exit poll will be revealed giving us the first insight into how the general election results could play out overnight.

The first constituency to declare their results should be around 11.30pm.

BBC

Laura Kuenssberg and Clive Myrie will front the BBC’s coverage of Election Night 2024

They will be joined throughout the night by BBC political editor Chris Mason and Reeta Chakrabarti.

Jeremy Vine will be broadcasting from Cardiff, Kirsty Wark from Glasgow, and Andrea Catherwood from Belfast.

Professor Sir John Curtice – the ‘expert’s expert’ – will join Laura, Clive, Chris and Reeta in London.

Fiona Bruce, Victoria Derbyshire, Naga Munchetty, Nick Watt, and Alex Forsyth will be reporting from key locations around the country.

Sophie Raworth and Jon Kay will take the helm on Friday morning, with deputy political editor Vicki Young alongside them as the shape of the country’s new political map becomes clearer.

Christian Fraser will be using graphics to build up a full picture of the new House of Commons.

Dedicated election results programmes on BBC One in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales will be presented by Martin Geissler, Mark Carruthers, and Nick Servini respectively, with Anne McAlpine hosting a Gaelic language election roundup on BBC ALBA.

ITV

Tom Bradby will front ITV’s coverage in the company of George Osborne, Ed Balls and Nicola Sturgeon.

Tom – who anchored election nights in 2015, 2017 and 2019 – will also be joined by throughout the night by ITV News’ Robert Peston, Anushka Asthana and Paul Brand plus ITV’s leading election analysts Professor Jane Green and Professor Colin Rallings.

At 6am Good Morning Britain will come on air with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls co-presenting, with the latter leaving the overnight coverage to join GMB.

Political punditry guests including Andrew Pierce, Kevin Maguire, Guto Harri, Harriet Harman, Kwasi Kwarteng, Ayesha Hazarika and Gordon Brown will all join GMB as the show continues to cover up-to-the-minute election news and insights through to 9.25am.

ITV will remain on air from 9.25am with Julie Etchingham leading the coverage.

Sky News

Kay Burley will host Election Night Live, the overnight results programme, from a 360-degree immersive studio normally used by Monday Night Football.

Kay – who will be covering her 12th UK General Election – will be joined by Political Editor Beth Rigby, Sir Trevor Phillips, and data and economics editor Ed Conway.

Mayor of Greater Manchester, and former Labour MP, Andy Burnham will join former MSP and Leader of the Scottish Conservatives, Baroness Ruth Davidson, to provide guest analysis.

Professor Michael Thrasher will lead Sky News psephology team, as he has at every election since 1989.

From 7am the following day, Sophy Ridge will be live from Westminster. She will be joined by Deputy Political Editor Sam Coates and Sky News contributor Adam Boulton throughout the day.

Channel 4

Channel 4’s election programme will be hosted by Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Emily Maitlis.

They will be joined exclusively throughout the night by The Rest is Politics podcast hosts Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart.

Cathy Newman will be presenting from the campaign HQs for the Conservatives and Labour.

Hannah Fry will be on hand to breakdown the data as it comes in.

C4 News’ Political Editor Gary Gibbon will be on hand throughout for his first class analysis, while a team of reporters will be at key counts across the country capturing the moments of drama as the results are declared.

Kwasi Kwarteng, Nadim Zahawi, Harriet Harman, Vince Cable, Mhairi Black, and Ann Widdecombe will also pop in during the night.

GB News

Camilla Tominey and Stephen Dixon will front GB News’ coverage.

They will be joined throughout the night Patrick Christys and Michelle Dewberry, who will host a GB News Election Night Watch Party from a club in Essex.

Political Editor Christopher Hope will be on hand to dissect every twist and turn as the results come in.

On July 5th, Isabel Webster will host a special breakfast show from 6am.

Talk

Julia Hartley-Brewer will kick-off Talk’s coverage from 10pm. Mike Graham will take over from 1am, while Ian Collins steers viewers through the early hours of 4am-7am.

CNN

Richard Quest and Isa Soares will lead CNN International’s coverage from CNN’s London studio, providing insights and analysis of the key races and voting trends as the night unfolds.

Joining them in the studio will be Anna Stewart, who will track the numbers as votes are counted using an interactive 3D visualization, giving viewers a dynamic display of real-time data for each constituency.

Salma Abdelaziz and Clare Sebastian will report throughout the night from various locations across London.

As results come in during the early hours of Friday July 5, Max Foster will continue presenting CNN’s special coverage from outside the Houses of Parliament, with Nic Robertson reporting live from Downing Street.
